Yesterday one of the first-grade dads came to talk to all of the first graders about his work with sharks. He also brought each of them ("all one hundred first graders, Mama") a shark's tooth. Liam told me quite seriously that he was going to put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy. I, of course, explained that the tooth fairy didn't do shark teeth, only kid teeth.
Apparently he didn't believe me so when his daddy got home he told him the same thing, fully confident that his daddy would back him up on this one. Imagine his surprise when his daddy told him the same thing I had: the tooth fairy doesn't leave money for shark's teeth. S explained that, Shark Tale aside, sharks don't live in houses and don't need money and even listed the types of things that a shark tooth fairy would leave for little sharks ("dead fish!" "seaweed!"), but Liam kept insisting that the tooth fairy would leave money in exchange for this shark's tooth.
After going back and forth with us for a while he finally told us, with the utter conviction that he was dealing with two people who didn't know beans about the tooth fairy, "when I wake up tomorrow and the tooth fairy has left me money, you two are going to find out that you are N-O, wrong!"
Alrighty then.
I LOVED this.....*smiling*
Thank you for a really happy moment,

Ya know, kids? They know what they know.

That's funny. I tend to spoil my kids so I probably would have thrown a copy of Finding Nemo under the pillow.... Or maybe some mahi-mahi filets.
Here from Michele's - see you soon.

I have to say that I'm curious to see who comes out right on this one. My five year old has been spelling out yes and no for the past few weeks. "Have you been to the bathroom" "Y-E-S"
Santa Claus brought him a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle gameboy game last year when his parents had told him he wasn't old enough for it and he should mark it off his list. That tickled him. He thought his parents got trumped by the big guy.
